J 3« cursed a good Heal to himself, but suffieient'y loud to be.lmkrd not only by the public, but by. a vigilant guard, who gave him a hint to moderate '/ his language. ; The m'tin then strode up and down the pived platform like'«caged tiger, and at each turn stopped, muttered something between Irs set teeth, stamped liis feet, and gesticulated wildly. By tlii« time he had,excited a gooddetdof £enerul interest, and 'the to'ks about'ga'hered io a group to watch His antics. Snddenly a cry of horror escaped them, as the wild ope shook his herid, and one Of his eyet dropped with :fl*thud' on the pavement, A rush was made to the spot, and grout, wad the the spectators when it was seen that the;, eye- was a glass one, which had beeji forked out'of itgpocket. The owner, however, was not relieved, especially when' he saw with hia one eye that his other eye was broken and renuseless; and his rage and disgust were intensified at the laughter of the non-sympathetic neighbors.
