Auckland, Dec. 31. At Lftvtika, Fiji, on 20th December, a fire destroyed KraffVa new store and Whiteside's store adjoining, with its contents. The fire Brigade and volunteers, by strenuous labor, kept the flames from spreading further. The insurance on Krafft'a were £llsO, and on Whiteside's £SOO. • Kiji planters have suffered considerable loss through an immense bush fire extending to the plaDtitioua. The long-continued drought is affecting native food supplies. The copra crop will be a partial failure, and it is feared that the yams will suffer also.
