TIMARU. Messrß Jonas and Bourn report for the week ending Saturday ag follows :

Business daring the week, on the whole, has been rather dull, the supply of atock forward scarcely up to the average in quantity, nod priest fur all classes bnvs shown a downward tendency, and they fear there will not be any improvement in rates unless rain comes quickly to improve the pastures. South Canterbury Saleytrds The regular fortnightly sale was hold at these yards at he Washdyka on Thnrtday last, the 17th inst. The supply of stock forward was smaller than usual. Many of the uHual buyers wore absent, and the prices obtained, as will be easily observed, were lower than last quotations. They sold 110 fat sheep at 9s 3d, 17 fat swes at 9s 2d, 17 fat ewes at Bs, 214 half-bred ewes and lambs at 4s (all counfcad), 4 fat ewes at £6 7s 6d, 6 fit steers at £6 14s, 10 fat heifers at £6 18s 61, i") cowh and calves at £5 10-, 11 utore heifers at £2 8i 6d, 10 store steers at £3 13s, 10 store steers at £2 6s.

TIMARU MARKETS. The Canterbury Farmers' Co-operative Association, Limited, report for the week ended 19th December, as follows : Wool—(Continues to come in freely both for sale end shipment, Siuce their auction sale on Bth inat., they have disposed of privately about 120 bales at satisfactory prices. Wheat—Little business has bean done since the date of their last report, millers being well supplied, and disinclined to lay in stocks. Tbe following' may be taken as present values tor prime nulling: —Red chaff, 2s 94 to 2s lOd; Tuscan, 2s lOd to 3i Id ; and velvet np to 3t 3d, Inferior sorts find a ready nit at np to 2s 7 d ex store.

Oats—Plentiful supplies of green feed have resulted ia a falling off in the demand for this cereal, and owners have te accept lower prices.-They have placed about 4000 bushels long feed at Is 8d f.0.b., which may be taken as present top value; short feed oats are scarce, and would sell readily at up to Is lOd f.o.b.

Barley—No transactions can be re* ported, the demand for this cereal being very limited. CANTERBURY WOOL SALES. The second wool sain of the season took place in Christchurch last Saturday. Messrs Matson and Co. sold 852 bales of merino and crossbred. It merino the highest price realised was per lb., and in crossbred B£d, Id washed wool Ilsd was the highest. Messrs Robert Wilkin and Co. report top prices—Cross* bred B£d, halfbred 7fd, merino 7d, and pieces sd. The prices obtained showed no advance'on last sale. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Adelaide, Dec. 18. Shipping wheat is dull of sale at 3s lid to 4s Id per bushel ; town flour, £8 15s to £9 per ton j.coiiotry ditto, £B. Sydnkt, D*t. 18. New Zealand wheat is steady at 3s 8d per bushel. New Zealand oats have ad* vaDced 2d per buwhel since la<it report, and are now worth 2s 4il.
