CONCERT AT WOODBURY.

On Friday evening last a concert was held in the Woodbury schoolroom in aid of the children's priza fund. The evening was fine, the attendance large, and everything Lagged off in a very satisfactory manner, 'he Rev. J flß, P ret, ton occupied the chair, and, after briefly explaining the object of the entertainment, called upon Miss Foster, of Geraldine, to open the programme by an overture on the piano. The pie.ee " chosen " The Marche Soudanese," w»s executed with much taste and skid. [ Mr Lodge then sang "I Fear do Foe " in first-rate voice, and in response to an enthusiastic encore'gave •' Let me like a Soldier Fall." Mr Thatcher rendered in his well known style "The Rose of AllHndale," and lie Lad to again appear. " Little Sister's gone to Sleep" was nicely sung by Miss Cooling, and Mr R. E'der crested quite a sensation with "Pat Molloy." He afterwards a pong in costume with equal success. Miss Dunlop rendered "Jessie's Dream" with good taste and expression, receiving a well merited round of applause. Mr Fiatmau's rendering of the "Little Hero" met with the reception which it deserved, it being enthusiastically cheeied. Mr Flatman responded with "John Peel." Mr Lodge 'hen followed with the favorite song "•Sailing" which, as usual, w»s well received. Mr Thatcher pleased the nndit-nce with Ids next Pong, *<■ Down by the River Side I Stray," and was followed by Mr Glanville sinking "Ehren ob the Rhine" in a manner which showed that with a lit tin more confidence he would be a very successful vocalist. Miss Dur.lop next delighte I the audience with tlu " Wishing Cap," and the "Sea King" capitdly rendered by the school children brought t'>e first p'irt to a c'ose. After a shoit interval Miss opened the second part by a solo on the piano which was well received. The Geraldine Christy Minstrels then came on the stage and beg»n their part of the entertainment with an instrumental selection "Down the River." Although these minstrels have been in existence Utile more than a fortnight they acquitted themselves in a manner which would not have done djg< redit to a professional troupe. Most of their jokes and connndruois were capital, Mr Kruse, as Bones, keeping the audience convulsed with laughter. The following .are the songs given by members of the company, all of which were well received-—Mr Kruse, '« Doo-dnh, doo-dah, d»y " ; Mr T. Bowke't, "We'll hive a little dance tonight. Boys " and " A li'tle more Cider;" Jlr Logan, " Roses Uoderneath the Snow." and "The Old Log Cabin in the Dell ;" Mr Pratt, "Odier Side of Jordan;" MrC. Harding, "Molly Darling." The performance w»s concluded with a stump speech on "Woman's Rights" by Mr Ki use, and it is almost needless to add that it was a great success. Mr Dean, on behalf of the School Committee, relumed thanks to those ladieß and gentlemen who had kind'y nseisted during the evening ; to Miss Foster for Ler kindness in accompanying the singers, and to the Rev. James Pres.ton for presiding. The tinging of the National A ntliem then brought the proceedings to a close.
