AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT/ TIMARU. E. R. Guinness (for the New Zealand Loan and'Mercantile Agency Company Limited), reports for the *eek ended Friday, November 20th; aa follows Cattle —■> At the South Canterbury Yards, Washdyke, on ThmsdaVlast, the beet market was well supplied, tbe majority being good to prime'. Fair competition from the trade was met with, but values, compared with last sale, were somewhat easier, good quality making 22s 6d per IOOIb. We placed excellent heifers at £7 17s 6d, light heifers from £5 2s 6d to £6 Sh. Fat bullocks realised £6 6s; £7 10a, up to £9. Cows and heifera ' £5 to £Blos.' Stores There was a larger number . yarded than usual, chiefly young: stock, which were dull of sale at current rates. Several lines of three-year-old steers sold well, bringing from £4 lOs up to £610». At the latter price we disposed of 28 head. Sheep—The supply of fat atthe South Canterbury Yards, Washdyke, on Thursday, was the smallest we have seen for some time. Prime shorn crossbred wethers made 10s fid to 10* 9d. Wo qqote prime mutton at IJdto IJlper lb. (Stores—The demand for all descriptions! of this class of stock is just now very dull. Till shearing is finished we do not anticipate any sales of magnitude taking place. Private sales—Since pur last report wo have succeeded in placing the following cattle and sheep, viz, 40 bead fat bullocks at £B, 30 head heifers at £6 10s, 42 head store Steers at £4 7a 6d. 600 crossbred hoggets in the wool at 32a. Skins—At our fortnightly sale tho usual attendance of buyers being present, biddings lacked spirit; prices in consequence were slightly below late rates. By auction and ! privately we have sold over 1445 skins at the following prices Best butchers’ crossbreds, 3s 3d to 4s; second quality, 2s 9d to 3s; do merinos’ 2s 9d to 3s 3d ; second quality, 2s 3d to 2s 6d ; lambskins, 4s to 6s; pelts, 2d ; country lots according to quality. Hidbsr-The market remains steady. We quote well-trimmed hides over 60 lbs, 4Jd ; 60 to 601bs, 4d ; light arid'inferior, 3d to 3£d. At the above prices We have cleared Over 80. Fat and tallow—Best butchers’ rough fat is bringing IJd per lb; tallow, ]|d to l|d. At tbe above prices We have placed all to bandl'X^: TIMARU PRODUCE MARKETS. Mr. Wm, Evans reports a dull .week i| the grain business. Present quotations are Milling wheat, 2a lOd to 3s 3d per bushel, according to quality; 1 foWi wheat, 2s fid ; milling oats, 2s; Danish and Tartar, la 9d to la lOd ; bags, fid each; bran, 80s; sharps, 85s (a rise of 10s per ton during the week), and. no stock of either held, all available being placed for Australian markets ; potatoes, 50* to 655, bags included ; all quotations f.o.b. jTSe Canterbury Farmers’ Co-operative Association, Limited, report for the week ended 20th November, as follows Business in all kinds of grain has been quiet; 1 Wheat—Millers having still ample steel* are not-anxious to purchase.- Oar quotations are '3s 2d to 3a 4d for prime velvet, 3s to 3a 2d for Tuscan, and 2s 9d to 3 s for red chaff. Inferior sorts sell readily for fowl corn, 2a fid, f.o.b. Oats—Prices are still maintained, notwithstanding the demand being somewhat easier, We have placed 409 sacks short feed at up to 2s OJd, f.o.b. t Present quotations—ls 9d to la 10d for long feed, la lOd to 2s for short fetd, and up to 2s Id for stout heavy milling. : For tho latter there is not much inquiry. Barley—We have sold one or two small parcels of inferior at 3a ex store. For malting there is no inquiry, AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Stdnbt, Nov. 20. New Zealand wheat is worth Sa Id per bushel, an advance of Id ; New Zealand Osti are Id dearer, and are now at 2s 2d. Maize (361 b) is worth 4s, an improvement of 5d in value. Sugar Company V No. 1 pieces are at L 26 per tori, AdblaiDb, Nov. 20. Shipping wheat is quie,t at Sa lid to 4s per bushel v I’pwn flour, L 8 10s ) country do, L 7 15s to LB. ENGLISH MARKETS London, Nov. 20. Tallow—Australian, of fair average quality— Beet is quoted -at 20a fid, au advance of fidiper cWt; mutton remains at 265, Not, 21. ; At the wool sales to-day 9400 bales were catalogued, 1 tfae : tone of the market being quiet. The wheat market continues inactive, but prices are firmer. Ex ship 87s, and ex warehouse 37s fid is demanded. Offcoast cargoes hate been sold »tSs*9d.
