MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the above B >ard was held in the Road Board Office, Peel Forest, on Friday, the 20th inat. Present—The Hon. J. B. A. Acland (Chairman), Messrs G. J, Denniatoun and C. G. Tripp, MINUTES. The minutes of th© last meaPng were read and confirmed. * THE PERSONNEL OP THE BOARD. The Clerk stated that aince the last meeting Mr Hawrion had aent in his resignation as a member of the Board, and acting upon instructions from the Chairman tha necessary measures had been taken to fill the vacancy, and that Mr Robert Thow had been elected. Mr Thew then took bis saat on the Board. CORRESPONDENCE. The following correspondence was read and considered : From the Union Bank of Australia, Timaru, informing the Board that £IOOO of the Biard’a fixed deposits had been transferred to current account. From the Commissioners of Crown Lands, in reference to the Board’s application fur a grant of land under the “ Forest Trees Planting Act.” From the Same, forwarding a form of application and description of the piece of land applied for, for the signature of the Chairman.—The form was signed and ordered to be forwarded to the Land Office. From Mr A. Hawdon, tendering his resignation as a member of the Board. From Mr J, Wilson, of Allandale, stating that efforts are being made by the Mackenzie County Council to procure the services of a medical man as Health Officer for the district, and as a large portion of the Mount Peel District would be benefited thereby, he would request the Board, if possible,- to assist in the matter. —The Clerk was directed to reply that the appointment o£ a Health Officer was a County matter. The Board would recommend Mr Wilson to apply to the Geraldine County Council. From Messrs White, Smithson and Raytuond, solicitors, in reference to roads to be exchanged under the Public Works Act. From the Otago Daily Times Office, soliciting an order for Vincent Fyke's Handbook of Local Law, From Mr W. Badger, in reference to his publication of the Local Government Guide and Ratepayers’ Manual—Resolved “That one copy of the work bo ordered.” MISCELLANEOUS. Proposed by the Chairman, seconded hy Mr Dennistoun, and carried—“ That a general rate of one farthing in the pound be struck at next meeting, to be made payable os the Ist January, 1886.” The Overseer v/as instructed to inspect, the road line in section 9834, and to call for tenders for building a bridge over the main creek if considered necessary ; also to have the Orari Bridge truck cleared and repaired, and to have gorse cleared off roads where landowners are not responsible. ACCOUNTS. Accounts'to the amount of £77 5s were passed for payment, and the Board adjourned. ■
