THE B.M. COURT, GERALDINE.

TO THE EDITOK. Sib,—l see by the report of the meeting of Justices of the Peace, held at Geraldine on Monday hit, that certain gentlemen hare been asked to allow their names to be enrolled on the Commission of the Peace. Tbe action of the Justices in to far ai their deiire to tee the work of the Ootart carried out in a proper manner i» commendable. But I would like to ask, how much will the longfelt want of a Justice who will always be available be better supplied ? Of the two gentlemen who have been recommended to the Government, one resides at least fire milei away, and tbe other, though certainly not far from the towmbip, is pretty well occupied as it is, with both private and public affairs. Of the three who hare been written to —than whom in many respect it would net be easy to find gentlemen better qmlii'd to fill the position—two live about four miles off, and the third I eonsider would be the only justioe available in cases of urgenoy, as ha resides not far fnm the Court, and has time at his disposal, therefore moss of the work as far as I can see is likely to fall upon him, Now, BCr Editor, surely in our Town District wo ought to be able to find some one who would be able and willing to sit on the Bench as a Commissioner of the Peaoe. There is certainly one objection to men in business occupying that position—they are very often interested parties—but I can't see that this is a fatal objection, because go where you will you will fiad business men on every fienoh, and if a case comes before the Court where his interests are involved in any way, what if. to prevent him from retiring ? Hoping tj tee this matter taken up as this seems a moflt opportune time, and apologising for troubling you at suoh length.—l am eta., H, I« fttnldin*, Not. 11.
