AUCTIONEERS' KEPORT. GERALDINE. Messrs J. Mundell and Co. report sales for the week ending Saturday, 17th Oct, 1885 : At the Geraldine Shipyards on Friday they held a sale of draught and hackney horses. There was an average entry of horses, but the majority were of inferior description, which proved beyond a doubt that this class of stock ia greatly neglected. There were several buyers for export and a few for local requirements, and for anything like a good xtamp of a horse the prices offered and given during the day left a satisfactory margin of profit to the breeder. Fortyfive horses were entered for the day, and for those sold the following prices were obtained :—Medium draughts, Ll 6 15s to L2l ; light and inferior, 1.10 to Ll2 12s 6d ; hackney horses, very weedy sorts, L 6 to L 7 10s. On account of Mr Robert Taylor they submitted to auciion, at the Geraldine Saleyards, 24 dairy cows, in full profit and close on calving. The cows were in very low condition. At the advertised hour f«r stalling the sale, a large number of dairyman and those inti restod in the sale of this class of stock were in attendance. They disposed of the lot at prices varying from L 3 17s 61 to L 6 15s, Th" demand proved far in excess of the supp'y, ftood dairy cows will readily fiud at present at from L 6 to LB.
