PUBLIC NOTICE. TIMARU HARBOR BOARD. PROPOSAL TO RAISE A SECOND LOAN OF £IOO,OOO FOR HARBOR WORKS. A PUBLIC MEETING of RATEPAYERS of the TEMUKA RIDING of the GERALDINE COUNTY will be held at the VOLUNTEER HALL, TEMUKA, ON SATURDAY, 17th OCTOBER, 1885, At 8 p.m., For the purpose of considering and discussing a Proposal of the Timaru Harbor Board to Borrow a further Sum of £IOO,OOO, under the Provisions of the “ Harbors Act 1878 ” and the “Timaru Harbor Board Loan Act 1885,” for the Extension of the Breakwater, Dredging, Reclamation, and Erection of Wharves, Jetties, and Harbor Improvements generally, as limited by the “ Harbors Act 1878.” Dated this 12th day of October, 1885. DOGS. POULTRY, DAIRY, AND AGRICULTURAL PRODUCE, IMPLEMENTS, WOOL, ETC., ETC. PRIZES amounting to about £550 will be given in Pieces of Plate, Medals or Cash. A Challenge Cup of 50 Guineas is given b 7 the Business Men of Timam for the Largest Prizetaker in Breeding Stock, Sheep, Cattle and Horses. G. H. Rhodes, Esq., gives a prize of £5 5s for the best Pen of Fat Lambs fit for butchers’ purposes. G. H. Rhodes, Esq., gives a £lO Cup for the best Horse that lias hunted with any recognised Pack. The same to be entered in either Class 146 or 147. D, McLaren, Esq. (President), gives a prize of £5 5s for the Largest Prizetaker in Draught Horses. Andrew Grant, Esq., gives a prize of £2 tor the best Collie Dog on the ground. J. W. Rtjxhbkford, Ksq., offers a prize of £5 5s for the Best Jumper over two flights of hurdles 3ft Gin high, for horses that have never been hunted or raced. J. 'mlah, Esq., offers a prize of £2 for the Best Shod Entire Draught Horse on the ground, to be allowed by competent judges. The prize to go to the Shoer. J.
