TEMUKA CRICKET CLUB.
The opening match of the season, Married f. Single, was played last Saturday. Mi U.n’!.'ro*.V3H was captain of the Married and M:* B yars of the Single. The latter winning the toss elected to hat first, and his team were not disposed of before making Hie good score of 1)6, Messrs Fish and Gnrr playing well for their side. The Married then took the wickets and were quickly disposed of, with the exception of Ogilvie, who plared steadily. The tola 1 reached was 21. The bowling of Fifdi for the Single was very effective as he took 7 wickets tor 6 rims. The Married again took the wickets, and made a much better stand than in the first innings, as the total readied 106 for 8 wickets, Mr Hay hurst playing a fine free innings for 42, and Messrs Heap and Aapinall also displayed good cricket. Mr Rout was unfortunately given out l.b.w. fust na he wag scoring well. The day was all that could be desired, but th ground being very hard, made it difficult tor the batters. Next Saturday the match to be played is Volunteers against the Temuka C.C.
