TIN WALD MARKET,
Mr E. G. Stavely. (for the New Zealand Loan ami Mercantile Agency Company, Limited) reports on Tinwald live stock market under date September 22, as follows : —Moderate entry of sheep ; demand quiet. Fat merino wethers, 11s ; medium crossbreds, 14s ; aged merino ewes in lamb, 6? 6d ; good merino ewes, with heavy percentage of lambs, 13s ; four and six-tooth crossbred ewes, with 100 per cent of lambs, 17s ; do, mixed ages, 14s 6d ; fair demand. Cattle —Average entry. Fat steers, £4 12s 6d to £6 10s ; forward steers' £5 5s ; mixed two-year-olds, £3 6s; twenty months, £2 7s ; springers, from 17s 6d for medium sorts.
The Ashburton Guardian says :—The late improvement in the price of wheat has occasioned a stir in the local grain market. Large lines of wheat have been despatched from Ashburton during the past few days, and on Friday next the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. will forward 4,500 sacks to Lyttelton by special train.
ENGLISH MARKETS.
Loudon, Sept. 22. At to-day’s wool sales 9500 bales were catalogued. The demand for staple wool remains steady, but is not active.
