It is rumored that the settlement of the dispute between Germany and Spain with regard to the occupation of the Caroline Islands, will probably be effected by j compromise. The Nord Deutsche Zeitung confirms the statement that an amicable understanding will be arrived at. Aug. 24. Prince Bismarck has replied to the protest lodged by the Spanish Government against the annexation of the Caroline islands by Germany. His reply is evasive, A rupture between the two Powers is imminent. Public feeling in Spain is running very high. King Alphonse has Implored Kaiser Wilhelm to disavow the annexation o ( the islands. The Kiag of Spain fears that if Germany persists in boiling the islands he will be dethroned, ,
