Waihora, for the Bluff. Later. Further . information respecting the robbery at the Hotham branch of the Federal Bank last night shows the amount abstracted is much greater than was at first reported. The total amount stolen from the safe was £2856, consisting of £1919 of Federal Banknotes. Of these £llOO were done up in bundles of fiftiep, £461 was in gold, and £124 ia silver. A clerk named Robinson, aged twenty-four, who slept on the pre mises, in dope proximity to the safe, asserts he returned about midnight, and was not disturbed during that night. He further states that by mistake he left the keys in the keyhole of the door. There are no signs of force having been used to enter the premises, or open the safe, but nine drawers of the latter had been broken open. The explanation of Robinson is not considered satisfactory, and he has been arrested. Albany, Aug. 24. Arrived, this afternoon—P. and 0. Tasmania, with the London mails dated July 24th.
