Temuka—Wednesday, August 12, 1885. [Before S. D. Barker and K. F. Gray, Esq., J.P.’s.] CIVIL CASES. J. Tangney v. M. O’Connor—Claim £2 16s 6d,—Judgment by default for amount claimed and costs. J. Tangney v. M. Ahern—Claim £1 9s.—Judgment by default for amount claimed and costs. J. Tangney r. Blissett—Claim 7s. The claim was for a pair of boots, which the plaintiff said were delivered to a person who represented herself as defendant’s wife. The defendant denied that either himself or his wife had ever had any dealings with the defendant. They never got any boots from the defendant. He always dealt with Mr Klee, of Winchester. The plaintiff was nonsuited, J, fangney v. J. A, \oung—Claim 7s for a pair of slippers. The plaintiff gave evidence to the effect that a young person representing herself as the daughter of Mr Young, of Winchester, went into his shop and got from his wife a pair of slippers. She took the slippers and showed them to a lady who was seated in a buggy which was standing in front of the shop, and this lady his (plantiff’s) wife believed to be Mrs Young. The boots were taken away on approval and never returned. The defendant denied that any member of his family had ever purchased from the defendant any slippers of the description sued for. Plaintiff was nonsuited. J. Tangney v. J. Barrett—Claim £1 4s. —Judgment for plaintiff by default with costs. The Court then rose.
