TEMUKA TOWN BOARD.
The usual monthly meeting of the above Board was held last night. Present —Messrs Gray (Chairman), Quinn, Brown, Mason and Blyth. MINUTES, The minutes of the previous meeting were read add confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. From the Railway Department, stating that the lamps asked for by the Board to be erected south of the railway station could not be gracted. From the Fire Brigade asking for £SO to buy uniforms, and stating that when the Brigade got its annual subscription from the insurance companies they would place it to the credit of the Board.—On the motion of Mr Quinn, seconded by Mr Brown, it was resolved—" That the Fire Brigade be informed that this Board would wish to meet a deputation from the Fire Brigade to arrange as to uniforms and other details in connection with the Brigade.” From Messrs Whitehead, Rayner, and Davis, calling attention to the state of Ewen Road, and asking the Board to make it passable.—lt was decided to call for tenders for the work. From Mr J. J. Heap and several others asking that the footpath between Wood street and Ewen streets on the Main road be formed with a concrete keibing.-—lt was resolved to reply that the application could not be entertained, but that the footpath would be re-formed and shingled. GORSB CLEARING. It was decided that all back streets be cleared of gorse and broom. TENDERS. Tenders were opened as follows ; Contract No. 11—Lamp-lighting: J. W, Boulter, £4 10s per lamp (accepted); J. Davis, £4; J. F. Douglas, £4 lOs ; J. Ogilvie, £4 12s 6d ; R. Flanagan, £4 15s ; A. Martin, £4 15s. No. 10—Kerbing and channelling : G, H. Lynch, £53 13s l£d (accepted); M. Dunn, £62 10s; J. Whitehead. £65; W. Lewis, £73 Is Bd. RESERVES. A list of reserves was laid on the table, and the Clerk was instructed to ask the Hon. Mr Rolleston to have them duly Gaaetted. overseer’s report. The Overseer reported to the effect that Contract No. 9 had been completed and 27 yards of shingle put on the Railway Terrace water channel. Wilrahurst Street had been shingled and rubbish and large stones carted away. The balance in the bank was £264 14s 3d. The foothpaths in Cross Street wanted repairs, and be would suggest tenders being called for shingle. Wilaihurst Road, opposite Maseru Thomson and Radford’s required shingling, as some of it was low and the water after rain lodged on it. The sanitary condition of the town was satisfactory. It was resolved to call for tenders for 100 yards of shingle (more or less) for repairing the footpaths referred to by the Overseer. ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of £43 7s lid were passed for payment. The meeting then adjourned.
