LATE CABLEGRAMS.
London, July 28. The Government have received a despatch from Brigadier-General Greenfell, commanding the Egyptian Army, in which he states that a messenger has arrived at Cairo with the intelligence that the Mahdi has been succeeded by Khalifa Adoolah. In the House of Commons last night the Hon. R. Bourke, Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, announced, in reply to a question, that Her Majesty’s Government were taking steps to relieve the beleagured garrison at Kassala. July 27. Shaw-Savill, and Albion Co.'s steamship lonic sailed from Bio de Janeiro homeward on Saturday evening, July 25. The meat cargo was in good condition.
