AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT. TIMAKU. Messrs Maclean and Stewart report 1 for the past week as follows ; Horses—An entry of nearly 50 draught and light, horses was to-day hooked at their yards for sale, and, though none of them call for any special mention, the lot of draughts was a fair all round lot, being mostly good medium sorts. A few good hacks were also offered. They are glad to be able to report a hir demand, and though prices are certainly not high, still for good youngsters very fair values were to-day given. They placed 20 medium and good draughts at. from £l4 to £25 10s ; hacks at from £lO to £2l. Privately, during the week, they have placed several lines of good mares and geldings at satisfactory prices.
Shcep—Store sheep are in demand, but few good lines, with the exception of ewes in lamb, are offering. Of these the enquiry is beginning to be active, and prices are on the upward move. Privately they have sold several mobs t f crossbred ewes af good prices. Fatsheep have gone up considerably in price during the week, both here and in other markets, and owners who have been abb to hold on till now should command high values. Cattle —They have no transactions of importance to report in either store ot fat cattle. The demand for the former is quiet, and prices for the latter are on the rise. Wool, Skins, Hides, and Tallow — They held their usual fortnightly sale last Wednesday, when they catalogued 4 bales and 13 bags wool, 700 skins, also hides and a quantity of tallow, all of which found buyers at the following rates :—Butchers’ crossbreds, 4s Id to 4s 5d ; do merino, 2s 6d to 2s lid ; farmers’ lots—crossbreds, 2s to 2s 6d ; merinos, Is to 2s 7d ; wool, at from 4d to SYI for crossbred ; hides, from 3d to ; tallow, from l-|d to 2d per lb. CHRISTCHURCH STOCK MARKETS. At tho Addington Yards on Wednesday the entries of stock were larger than for some weeks previously, and the small supplies that have lately ruled seemed to have brought the stock to a low ebb. The demand being very active, considerable ’rise in value took place. The fat cattle offered were principally of good quality, the demand good, all being cleared. Steers, £5 15s to £8 15s ; heifers, £4 10a to £7 12s 6d ; fat cows, £4 2s Gd to £6 15a, being from 18s 6d to 21s per hundred, according to quality. Fat sheep in moderate supply, demand very brisk, advanced rates being paid. Crossbred wethers sold at from 13a 6d to 23s ; ditto ewes, 12s to 17s 6d ; merino wethers, 8s to 13s, being from 2d to 2-|d per lb, as per quality. But few store sheep yarded ; not much doing. Pigs in large supply ; no alteration in values. Baconers, 40s to 70s ; porkers, 22a 6d to 345, In the store cattle market, a few lines of cattle yarded, A lot of two-and-a-half-year-old steers sold at £4 ; ditto heifers, £3 6s per bead ; dairy cows sold well at from £5 10s to £8 per head.— Press.

Sydney. July 24. New Zealand wheat is at 2s 10d, an advance of Id ; Now Zealand oats remain a 1 2s Id ; inaiz-, 3s. Sugar Co.’s No. 1 pieces, £2G. ADELAIDE, July 25. Shipping wheat is quoted at 3s 10d lo 4s Id per bushel. Adelaide town (lour, £8 12s 01 tier ton ; country brands, £7 17s Od to £B.
ENGLISH MARKETS
London, July 24. Colonial Breadstuff's—Adelaide wheat, ex store, 35s Gd ; off coast, 31s Gd. Adelaide flour, ex store, 26s Gd. Ne" Zealand wheat, ex store, 28s to 34s ; ofl coast, 31s Gd. The total quantity of wheat afloat for the United Kingdom is 210,000 quarters. New Zealand frozen mutton is selling at 4id to 4-|-d, being ,[d to Jpl lower. Tallow— Australian, of fair average quality beef, 28s ; mutton is Gd lower, and is at 30s Gd. July 2G. The wheat market is more active, and off coast cargoes are in better demand a 1 From 34s 3d to 34s Gd. No business has been transacted in wheat for shipment. Tire weather is favorable for the crops.
