CHRISTCHURCH STOCK MARKETS.
Messrs Matson and Co. report upon yesterday’s Addington live stock market as follows : —There was a small supply of fat sheep, and there being good competition for export and otherwise trade was much better. There was a rise from 2s to 2s 6d per head. Crossbred wethers, 17s to 19s, extra to 235, second quality 14s to 15s 6d ; good merinos )ls6d to 13s 6d, equalling for best mutton nearly 2|d per lb, average In stores few were offering, but there were indications of a better demand for young sheep and for ewes to lamb early. In beef there was a limited entry and considerably improved prices ; a rise of 10s to 15s per head ; we quote best quality to about 23s per lOOlbs. Medium to 21s 6d, The pig market was flooded. Baconers rather easier, and stores and porkers showed a drop of several shillings a head.—Guardian.
