SUPREME COURT.
At the Supreme Court, Wellington, on Monday, before Em Honor Judge Richmond, George King for Greeny was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment ; Wateno Haenga, for larceny, to 6 months; and Joseph Hooper, for larceny, to 3 months ; J, A. von Keahl, for larceny, G months. On Wednesday, Williams, alias Allandale, who pleaded guilty to the recent jewellery robbery, was sentenced to four years. Toupey, for false pretences, received three years; he had several previous records against him. The jury in the case of Simmons, a prisoner charged with assaulting the Governor of the Gaol, were unable to agree, and were locked up all night. On Wednesday morning they were discharged, and another jury will he empanelled. At Christchurch on Monday, before His Honor Judge Johnston, Alfred Buckley, for resisting a Sheriff’s bailiff was fined £5 ; Joseph Gapstick, jewellery robbery, was sentenced to 3 years’ imprisonment ; John Francis Smithers, housebreaking, to 3 years ; J nines Henelly, forgery -of cheque for £lO, to 5 years ; William Mohr, robbery with violence, to 5 years; Alexander Douglas, for the same offence, to 3 years ; Matthew Kearne, horse stealing, to 5 years. On Tuesday, William McGregor, indecent assault, was sentenced to 4 years; James Henry Boberts, larceny us a bailee, 6 months. Henry Atcherly, alleged indecent assault, was acquitted. The criminal sittings of the Supreme Court commenced and ended in Dunedin on Monday. No Bill was found against Henry Graynam. John Pomeroy, for stealing a watch from a fanner at the racecourse, was sentenced to 12 months. Two hoys, concerned in breaking into and stealing some cash from a printing office, were ordered to come up for sentence when called on. For illegally pawning, Charles Graham received 14 days, and for attempted suicide John Sloan was ordered to enter into a recognisance for £SO. Henry Percy Fisher, for stealing a horse from a settler at Blueskin, and selling it at Oamam, was sentenced to nine months, and Hannah Elizabeth Massey was found not guilty of breaking into a dwelling house. At the Supreme Oourl, Auckland, on Tuesday, before His Honor Judge Gillies, Geo. Edward Denton, for stealing Dr Boiler’s Book of New Zea'and Birds from the Auckland Museum, was sentenced to 6 months’ imprisonment.
