COURSING.
A first-class day’s coursing was held on the Raukapuka estate on Thursday, when a number of sportsmen met and took advantage of the kindness of Mr R, H, Postlethwaite, who had thrown open the estate for a day’s sport. The day was beautifully fine and the sport good, and everyone seemed to fully enjoy the day’s outing. The paddocks coursed over were those between Stover and the Waihi riverbed. Hares were very numerous, and ran very strongly, only two being killed during tbs day. Many of the courses were very long, and mostly keenly contested. Mr A, A, Briscoe officiated as judge, and the closeness of the contests made his office anything but a sinecure. Mr M. Connolly acted as slipper, and Mr R. Berry as Secretary. During the day a luncheon wkdfeent out from the station, which was dmm full justice to by those on the ground.
