London, June 30.
At a meeting of the shareholders of the New Zealand Agricultural Company held to-day, it was decided to postpone the payraer t of debentures for five years.
Hobart Pashj, who was removed from the English Navy List in consequence of his having accepted the appointment of Oomraander-in-Ohief of the Black Sea Fleet of -Turkey during the! RussoTurkish war, the English Government having at that time issued a proclamat:on of neutrality, has had his name reinstated on the Navy List. Ihe homeward Australian mails, dated Melbourne, May 19th, per P. and 0. R.M.S. Thibet, were delivered here to-day via Brindisi. July 1. A grand naval tournament has been : held at Bautry by fifteen ironclads under the command of Admirals Seyraourand Hornby, which were despatched to the coast of Ireland for the purpose of carrying out an elaborate system of naval manoeuvres. The tournament was a splendid spectacle, Edward Hanlan, the sculler, has been nearly drowned at Toronto, while out rowing.
The Diet of the Duchy of Brunswick have rejected the claims of the Duke of Cumberland to the Dukedom. Lord Carnarvon has been sworn in as a member of the Salisbury Ministry. Russia is actively engaged in completing the railway between Kizil Arvat and Merv.
Germany and the other Powers have restrained M. de Freycinet, the French Minister of Foreign Affairs, from pressing the Marquis of Salisbury at present regarding Egyptian affairs. ■
The cricket match Oxford v. Cam. bridge was concluded at Lords' to-day, and resulted in a victory for Cambridge by seven wickets. Mr Webster, Q.C., the new AttorneyGeneral, was elected for Launceston to day by a majoiity of 42, and Mr Ashraead-bartlett, who was appointed one of the Lords of the Admiralty, was re-elected for Eye by 137, majority, The remaining members of the new Ministry have all been re-elected without opposition, with the exception of Lord Randolph Churchill, who is opposed in his candidature for Woodstock. July 2.
It is affirmed that it has been positively decided to retain possession of the province of Dongola by British troops as far south as Aksheh. ,
A loan of £3,500,000- is announced for the Indian Government.
A syndicate is projected in London for the purchase of the interests of the New Hebrides Trading Company. The news of the rebellion of Isa Khan against the Governor of Khandung, in Afghanistan, has not been confirmed. An Australian gentleman offers to back Beach to row any man in the world; also to match an Australian crew against a British crew for £1 COO.
Mr Conr.ad Stachetin Werner, recently appointed to the Consulate at Sydney for the Swiss Confederation, sailed for his destination in September.

It is rumored that the Salisbury Ministry have arranged terms with Russia. Berlin, July 1. It is announced that Admiral Werner has been appointed Governor of the German possessions in New Guinea; New York, July 1. Tfie young woman Dudley who has been arraigned on a charge of attempting to murder O’Donovan Rossa in February last lias been acquitted, the jury finding a verdict in her favor on the ground of insanity. The Merchant Shipping and Underwriters’ Association report, under date. July 2, the arrival of the ship Opawa, from Wellington (left April 6th). AUSTRALIAN CABLE. Sydney, July 1. The revenu returns wore made pbbhc to-day. The revenue for the past quarter amounts to L 2,070,000, being an
increase over the corresponding period of last year of L 210,000. The total revenue for the past twelve months was L 7,500,000, being an increase of L 91,000 over the corresponding twelve months of 1883. : The weather is now fine, July 2. Sailed, to-day Triumph, fo New Zealand. In the Supremo Court to-day the action ;Adams v. the Commissione of Railways, in which the plaintiff claim compensation for injuries received at the Oootarnundra railway accident in January last, was concluded, after a protracted hearing extending over three weeks. The jury returned a verdict for the defendants. Melbourne, July 1. The Victorian yearly revenue returns were published to-day. The total revenue for the twelve months ended June 30th is L 6,290,000, being an increase on the preceding year of L 356,000, Among the departments showing increases are the Customs, L 150,000 ; excise, L6OOO ; and railways, L 121,000. The totahrevenue has exceeded the Treasurer’s estimate by L326,u00, The first examination of the Simpson’s road Bank robbers concluded yesterday, when the prisoners were all committed for trial at the July criminal sessions, bail being refused. A syndicate, the shares in which are fully subscribed, has been formed for the purpose of equipping and despatching an expedition to New Guinea in search of gold, of which several excellent specimens were brought from the island by Mr Kelly, of the recent “ Age New Guinea expedition.” July 2. Arrived, this morning—-Union Company’s s.s. Manapouri, from the Bluff. Hobart, July 2. The New Zealand Shipping. Company’s s.s. Rimutaka arrived here this morning. She sails for New Zealand at midnight. Adelaide, July 1. The South Australian revenue for the past year as £2,150,100, or £271,000 below the estimated amount. The Customs duties show an increase of L 109,000. The Premier, Mr'.Dowuer, in his Statement, announced that the deficiency of the revenue below expenditure was L 256,000, and the actual deficit at the end of the financial year L 700.000. Brisbane, July 1.
The Queensland revenue returns for the past quarter were' published to-dny, The receipts amounted to L 2,720,000, being an increase of £30,00.0 .compared with the corresponding quarter of last year, but yet showing deficiency below the Treasurer’s estimates. The deficiency is mainly in receipts from railways and lands.
