AUCTIONEERS' REPORT.
TIMART7. Messrs Maclean and Stewart report for the past week as follows : JUorses—A smaller entry then usual was to-day received at their yardr for sale, but the quality was considerably above the average, a laige portion; of them being first-class draught mares and geldings, in consequence of which there was a much better demand at increased prices. Horses brought from £9 to £22.
Sheep—There is liitle doing at present in store sheep, ar.d few lots are at present changing hands, Unlest when a scarcity of feed occurs, owner* will hold on till shearing. Privately they have placed a line of 500. half aud three-quarter-bred ewes at a satisfactory price. Fat sdeep—Pricesfare improving, and will now likely keep doing m» as the winter advances. They quote values at about 2d per lb, Cattle-—Thp market is quiet, and no lots of importance are changing hand*, Fat Cattle—They quote present values at from 15s to 17s per 1001 b.
Wool, Hkins, Tallow, Hides—They held their usual fortnightly sale lust Wednesday, at which aD average 1 lot was offered. They sold ; butchers' half and crossbreds, from 2s 4d to 8s 9d ; butchers' merinos from : .'2s to 2s 2d ; farmers' crossbreds and merinos from 2s to 3h. 2 bales mixed wool and pieces 4£d and 4|d ; tallow, at ]|d per lb ; hides, from 3d to per lb.
AUSTRALIAN AIARKETS.
oydnet, June 26. New Zealand wheat is quoted at 2s Bd, one penny lowpr than last week's prices. New Zealand oats have declined one penny to 2s Id per bushel. Maize has fallen twopence, and is now quoti-d at 2s )od. Sugar Company's No. 1 pieceß are firm at £26 per ton. Melbourne, June 30. The Melbourne Manager of the National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand, Limiied, reports of the locul markets as follows: Shipping wheat is decidedly firmer at 3s lid to 4s ; malting barley quiet at 4s to 4s 6d ; New Zealand oats, feed sorts, are quieter, but steady, at 2s ]ld to 3s ; malting descriptions are steady, but not i/i active demand, at 2s lid to 3s 2d ; New Zealand oats in boud, 2s Id to 2s 4d. ENGLISH MAM>rS. Li.NPON, June 27. l'he wheat market shows a slight improvement on last quotations. I'wo offcoast cargoes have" been sold at 355; one off-c<.ast cargo and a!no one on passage have realised 84* 6d, and for July shipments 37s has been obtained. Jt is eitimnted that" the'yield of the American wheat crop will be largely bulow the; average.
At the wool sale the bidding was flat and...irregular. For the aeries two hundred and twenty-eight thousand bales have been' catalogued, of which thirty-two thousand were withdrawn. June 29. Adelaide wbpat ex store is qnoted at 35s 6il, New Zealand wheat ex store 27s to 345, and Adelaide flour ex siore nominally 255. ,i , Wool—At to-day's auctions" "11,000 bales were catalogued.
