The rumor which was current that ihe Hon. Mr Stout was to be made Chief Justice is denied. Mr Robert Gillies has forwarded his resignation of the Brace seat to the Speaker, owing to the state of his health, The Atkinson party will not support Sir George Grey's amendment, but will quietly ignore it, and vote instead for origional motion to go into supply. They hold, as Mr Bryce said in his subsequent speech, that while they have no confidence in the Governriient the time had not yet arrived for the Ministers removal with advantage to the country, so Sir George Grey's motion will be lost.
