MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Boaid wns held in the Road Board Office, Peel Fores!, on Friday, the 19th inst. Members present—Messrs G. J. Dennistonn, C. G. Tripp, and A. Hawdon. The Chairman not being present MrC. Q-. Tripp was elected Chairman pro tem. MINUTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. TENDERS. The following tenders were accepted : Contract No.. 29, Eugene's Cutting, Geo. Rae, £l2 8s; No. 30, Footbridge at ScoUbuvn Creek, S. R-te, £7 15s; No. 31, Carting Stooee, Eugene O'Connor, £l7 9s 4d, for rarting 500 yards; No 32, Horse Feed : Tartarian Oats, is 3d per bushel, Morris and Gall; Cbiff, 9d per bag, J. and S. Wilson. CORE ESFONDENCE. Thejfol'owittg correspondence was read and considered : From J. E. M;»rsh, forwarding a statement of receipts and expenditure of the charitable institutions under the control of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board for the year ended 31st March, 1885. From the Commissioners of Crown Lands, Ohristchurch, requesting to be informed of the area planted by tho BnaH during the past year.-The Clerk stated that he had supplied the information asked for. From the G era Mine County Council, acknowledging the receipt of the Board's letter in nference to the spreud of gorse tn river-beds. From Mr J. M. Cambridge, chemist, Ashburion, quoting price tor supply of poisoned wheat. From Messrs Harpor and Co., forwarding deed .of conveyance of part of section 832, and crtifica'e of title of reserves 1803 2163, and 2167 From t he Chief Surveyor, Christchurcb, stating that lie would, have the Board's map plotted up if sent to the Survey Office for that purple. , * From the Chief Surveyor, stating that reserves 2335 ~a.nd 2424 had been permanently received and would recommend the Government to vest the whoie oi the reserves mentioned in the. Board's letter of the sth January, in'the-Board. • Mli-CELLANEUUS. The Overseer's-report was read, and the following resnlut : ons passed :—" That a tony of that part of the Overseer's report referring to the spread of gorsein riverbeds be foi warded to the Hon. W. Eoll-rston, M H.R., and Mr J. H. Sutter, M.H.R., and to the Hon. J. B. A.,Ac!aiid and the Hon. L. Walker for their, consideration." "That notice be t;iveu to owners* of land having gorse growing on roads adjoining their properties to grub up and lemove the same." The Overseer was directed to have all gorse grubbed up in any gravel pit (reserves in which it may be growing, also to grub it up along the fences round the office. Mr Blair had an interview, with the Board relative to his contract for breaking mera'l, when he was instructed to proceed with the woik and finish it without delay.
The rate book whs inspected and signed by two of the members. After pasting accounts to the amount of £272 15b 5J the Board adjourned.
