DEFEAT OF THE GLADSTONE MINISTRY.
Loudon, June 10
The debute on the financial proposals of the Government was brought to a close at a very early hour this morning, when a division was taken, with the result that the Budget waa rejected by a majority of 12, notwithstanding that Mr Gladstone announced that Government would make their acceptance a Cabinet question. An amendment proposed by Sir Michael Hicks Beach condemning the proposed increase in the duty on beer and spirits was then carrier).
In consequence of the adverse vote, the resignation of the Ministry is expected.
