PRODUCE MARKETS. TIMARU.
The Canterbury Farmers' Co-operative Association report for the week ended sth June as follows:
Wheat—The week has seen a reported further fall in prices at Home, and the market is in consequence somewhat weaker. Prime samples of Tuscan have moved off at 2s lOd to 2s lid f.0.b., but the demand has now been satisfied. They quote as present local values, ex store, 2s 6d to 2s 7d for prime red chaff, 2a 7d to 2s 8d for Tußcan, and 2s 8d to 2s 9d for velvet. Inferior qualities find a ready sale at is 9d to 2s, f.o.b.
Oats—Have continued to move off at last week's quotations, nrime samples of long feed meeting with fair demand at Is 3d to is 4d on trucks, Timaru. They quote for long feed Is 2d to Is 4d ; short feed, Is 5d to Is fid, and milling, Is 7d to Is Bd.
Barley—Malting soils slowly at 2a 6d to 2s 9d, inferior qualities meeting with no inquiry.
CHRISTCHURCH SiOCK MARKETS.
At the Addiugton Y>rds on Wednssday average entries of stock were yarded. Sales commenced punctually at eight o'clock with fat cattle, ot which only a small entry was offered—demand only middling—a dull sale at late rates. Steers sold at from £5 10s to £8; heifers, £4 15s to £6. A moderate entry of fat sheep sent forward of varied quality. A very dull enquiry. Crossbred wethers, l'Os 6d to 15s 4d ; ditto ewep, 9s 6d to lis ; merino wethers, 6s 6a to 7s 6d. A few lines of store sheep yarded. Lines of lambs sold at from 4s to 7s 1.1 ; a line of crossbred wethers at 10s, and a few lines of old sheep were' the ©n)y sales. A fairly large entry pigs met with a middling demand ; late lower rates about paid— Baconers, 42s 6d to 57s 6d ; porkers, 25s to 37b 6d ; stores 4s to 12s 6d. A moderate entry of store cattle met with littlp inquiry. Dairy stock without alteration.
AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Sydney, June, 5. There is little change in th« local market since our last report. New Zealand wheat shows an improvement of one penny. To-day's quotation is 2s 9d per bushel. New Zealand oats remain at 2s 3d, maize at 3s, and Sugar Company's No. 1 pieces £26. Adelaide, Juhe 5. Adelaide wheat is quiet at 3s 6d to 3s 8d per bushel; Adelaide flour, town brands, £8 to £8 2s 6d ; country brands, £7 5s to £7 73 6d per ton. ENGLISH MAHJTET«(. London, June 4. The third series of colonial wool auctions commenced to-daj, when 9700 bales were submitted to auction. There was a good attendance of Home and foreign buyers. Crossbred ruled about higher than at the March sales, while faulty merino wools exhibited rather a weaker tendency. The sales are announced to close on July 16th. June 6. The wheat market is quiet. The latest quotations are :—Warehouse, from 35s to 365. The latest sales for off-3< ast cargoes for transhipment to Boulogne, brought 134 s 6d ; February realised from
34s 3d to 34s 6d ; for shipments to arrive in iron vessels, 36s 6d is offered ; in wooden ships, 35s 6d.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have just received the following cablegram from their London branch : Wool The sales opened to-day (4th June) at the level of last series, except medium and inferior greasy, for which the market is easier. Coarse crossbred has advanced nearly £d to Id per lb. Crossbred is in demand, but merino is rather neglected. Home buyers are purchasing freely. The sales comprise about 320,000 bales. Thirtyfour thousand bales have been sent to the manufacturing districts direct. WheatMarket quiet. Adelaide wheat, to arrive per iron ship, is worth, ci.f., 36s 6d per 4801 b, June bill of lading. Adelaide, f.a.q. is worth, ci.f., off coast, 34s per 48011). Adelaide is worth 35s 6d, New Zealand 325, and Tuscan 34s 6d per 4961 b.
