WOODBURY SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Committee was held in the schoolroom on May 2 Present—Messrs Dean (Chairman), Flatman, Macdonald, Hammond, Thatcher, and McKenzie. MINUTES. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed. visitors’ report. The Visitors reported that the firewood delivered by Mr Thos. Taylor was quite satisfactory. The outside of the school buildings was in a very dilapidated state for want of painting and repairs ; also, the inside of Master’s house, the plaster being very badly cracked. They found the School working satisfactorily. Resolved and Thatcher act as Visiting Committee for the ensuing month.” CORRESPONDENCE, From the Board of Education intimating that the sum of £7 9s 4d had been placed to the credit of the Committee in the Bank of New Zealand, Geraldine, as incidentals for April, Mav, and Juno. From the same, enclosing Government circular for. the Committee’s guidance from the Education Department, Wellington. The circular impressed on the Board the representations esads by the Minister of Education in his sixth annual report, viz., that the Board shall out of their ordinary fund make payments for purchasing, erecting, putting up, or improving'school buildings.—Letter acknowledged. From the same, intimating that two members of the Board would inspect the buildings, to ascertain the actual necessities required.—This reply was in answer to an application for a grant of £6O for painting and other repairs. ENTERTAINMENT. Proposed by Mr Flatman, seconded by Mr Hammond and carried “That a concert and ball be held before the closing of the school for the midwinter holidays early in July, and that a Committee be formed at next monthly.) meeting to carry out same.” ACCOUNTS. Accounts for the sum of £3 10s having been passed for payment, the meeting terminated.
