ARRIVAL OF THE KAIKOURA.
The R.M.S. Kaikoura arrived at Wellington at midnight on Tuesday, after a passage which occupied 45 days. The delay was caused principally through the vessel having the misfortune to lose two blades of her propeller. She left London on March 12 and Plymouth two days later, and made the fastest run on record (4 days 3hrs 20mins) to Teneriffe. The day after leaving Teneriffe a propeller blade was lost. The Cape was reached on April 4, where a diver replaced the blade, and she "started again two days later. Three days out, however, another blade was lost. The Kaikoura did not call at Hobart. She brings 364 >paesengers, including 180 Government immigrants, for all ports. One death occurred on the voyage, but now all are well on board.
The immigrants by the Kaikoura are distributed as follows .—Wellington, 21; Auckland, 42 ; Nelson, 13 ; Canterbury, 31; Otago, 35 ; Hawkes Bay, 12 ; Invercargill, 6 ; Marlborough, 2 ; Taranaki, 4 ; and Westland, 5.
