AUCTIONEERS’ REPORTS. GERALDINE. Messrs J. Mundell and Co. report sales for the week ending Saturday, 25th April, 1885 During the week little of any importance has been sold by them at auction, but privately through them several lots have changed owners. On account of Mr A. Owles, they sold his house and section in Geraldine for £l4O, On account of different owners they have placed 1319 merino ewes at an average of 5s 6d, and a quantity of Leicester rams at from 3 to 5 guineas. They find an increasing demand for well-grown halfbred lambs. On Saturday they submitted to auction, on account of the Geraldine Racing Club, the privileges on the racecourse at their forthcoming meeting, which sold as follow :—Grand Stand booth, to Mr Robt. Taylor, for £3O; Nos. 1 and 2 booths, Mr Thos. Farrell, £6O; refreshment booth, Mr L. Tombs, £10; gates, Mr John Rae, £6O; horse yards, Mr Shephard, £B. Every lot was well competed for. TIMARU. Messrs Maclean and Stewart report for the past week ending Saturday as follows : Horses—At their yards to-day a full entry of horses was received for sale. A large portion consisted of first-class draughts, the remainder comprising medium sorts and hacks. They report the local demand as being dull, but for export trade a considerable enquiry existed, and a good number were purchased for the Sydney market. A total of 30 head were disposed of. Good draughts brought from £lB to £25 10s. A nice lot of unbroken colts and fillies were sold privately in one line at a satisfactory figure. Medium sorts changed hands at from £l4 to £lB, hacks from £5 to £l2.

Sheep—At their Washdyke Free Yards last Thursday, a full entry of store sheep were penned for sale, and a good business was done. They sold 200 shorn and halfbred lambs at 6s Id, 100 crossbred ewes at from 6s 6i to 9s 3d, 200 2-tooth crossbred ewes from 7s 8d to 11s, 300 halfbred ewes at 6s 9d, and privately they sold at good value 1000 merino ewes. Fat sheep ; Present values are about l|l per lb. Rams ; A considerable number have changed hands at from 1 in 3 guineas. Cattle—The demand for store cattle is dull, and they are difficult to sell, A nice lot of 16 head of well-forward steers and heifers were sold at the last Wash dyke sale at £3 10s, cows at from £2 7s 6d to £3 10s. Pat cattle at present are cheap, about 15s per 1001 b being their present value. Property —In the matier of the estate of the late Jacob R. Capps, they sold a farm situate in the Totara Valley, comprising 263 acres, at auction to-day, at a price equal to a little over £6 per teres, the purchaser being Mr W, B. Howell,

PRODUCE MARKETS,

TXMARTJ. Wheat—Prime milling, 2a 6d to 2a Bd. Oats—Bright short, Is 5d to Is 6d ; bright long, Is 3d. Barley—Malting, 3s to 3s 6d. Discolored oats and damp or sprouted wheat, unsaleable.'

AUSTRALIAN MARKETS.

Sydney, April 24. New Zealand oats remain at 2s 2d. Maize is quoted at 3s Id, a decline of 2d. Adelaide, April 24, Wheat has declined to 3s 7d and 3s Bd. The market is very dull. Town flour, £8 to £8 5s ; country brands, £7 ss.

ENGLISH MARKETS.

London, April 25. The wheat market is firmer, ‘Quotations are—ex warehouse, 355, at which price numerous sales have been effected. Forward shipments range from 36s to 38s 6d, and latest shipments at 38s.
