RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

Temuka—Wednesday, April 22, 1885. [Before S. D. Bxrker, and J. Talbot, Esqs., J.P.'s.] UNREGISTERED DOG. Murdoch Mackay was fined 10s for having an unregistered dog in his possession on the 11th of April. FEROCIOUS DOG.

D. Charteris was charged with allowing his dog to rush out at passers-by on the public thoroughfare. Constable Morton stated that he was proceeding to Winchester on horseback and the dog rushed out and tried to bite the horse. The defendant called R. DarrDch, G. Levens, and G. P. Wood to show that they had been in the habit of passing frequently, and that the dog never molested them, but none of them could give any evidence as to the occurrence complained of by Constable Morton. The Bench inflicted a fine of ss, and stated that all dog owners were liable for accidents caused by their dogs. James Roddick was charged with having allowed a dog belonging to him to bite E H, Brewer. Mrs Roddick said she did not know lanything aboui it, but Constable Morion said a complaint had already been made to him about the same dog, and a fine of 10s, and costs 5«, was inflicted. CIVIL CASES. J. Langskailv. W, Eagleston—China £2 10s 63.—-Judgment by consent. L. McCormick v. J. Mcßratney Claim £4 7s 3d. Judgment summons. —Ordered to pay half the amount within 14 days, or in default ] 4 days' imprisonment. Siegert and Fauvei v. W. Cassidy— Claim £lO 14s 3d.—Judgment for £9 15s 3d. The Court then adjourned.
