WAR IN THE SOUDAN.
Souakim, March 29.
The transport Iberia arrived at noon to-day with the main portion of the Australian contingent. The general advance on Tamai has been postponed until Wednesday next, in order to permit the colonial troops joining in the movement. The New South Wales troops landed in the afternoon and were met on the wharf by General Eaart. The men appeared in good health and as they marched to camp were cheered J enthusiastically by all the troops they passed en route. On the road to the camp tho A istralians were nr t by General Gr< k mi, who received the contingent, and afterwards congratulated them on their appearance, expressing admiration for the spirit which induced them to come to the' assistance ot the Mother Country. Sir Gerald Graham concluded by saying he wis proud to have 6uch forces Vnder his command. March 30. . The remainder of the New South Wales contingent in the transport Au> tralasia arrived this aftemoon, The troops on landing were greeted with enthusiastic cheering. It has been decided the colonM troops shall ba brigaded with the (Ssjards. A spy who has returned to Souakim from Tamai, reports Osman Digna'l J troops are deserting in large numbers. " Cairo, March 31.
It is announced that Lord Woiseley will shortly leave Dongola for this place, and it is currently reported will proceed hence to Souakim.
