Sir Henry Bruce, M.P. for Coleraine, on behalf of , the Conservative Party, has given notice in the House of Commons of a motion censuring the action of the Government in agreeing to the European Convention for the settlement of Egyptian affairs. The medical advisers of Her Majesty have ordered her to go on a visit to Aix-les-Bains for the benefit of her health. Aix-les-Bains is situated in Savoy, France, and is much resorted to for its thermal waters. Sir F. Napier Broome, Governor of Western Australia, has been entertained at a banquet, at which the AgentsGeneral for the Colonies were present. Hong Kong, March 22. News has been received of the death of Sir Harry Parkes, British Minister at Pekin, aged 58. Calcutta, March 23. Lord Dufferin, Viceroy of India, started to-day for Rawul Pindes in the Punjaub, in order to receive the Ameer of Afghanistan on his visit to India. Madeira, March 22. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s R.M.S, Aorangi, l«lt Wellington on the 14th ult., arrived yesterday morning. Her shipment of frozen mutton is in good condition. Capetown, March 23. The Shaw-Savill and Albion Company’s : j. Coptic (left Plymouth on February 28th), sailed hence last evening for New Zealand. Washington, March 23. It is announced that Senator Phillips has been appointed American Minister to the Court of St. James, and for the future the appointment is not to be subject to political changes, but will be of a permanent character. AUSTRALIAN CABLE. Sydney, March 23. Hanlan and Beach are doing good training for the sculling match for the championship of the world and £SOO a-side, which takes place between them on Saturday next. Both men are showing fine form, and the betting is about even.
