The portion of New Guinea annexed by Germany is to be enrusted to a German South Sea Company, an Imperial ohart'T conferring that power having been granted to the Company. The Reichstag has voted the necessiry funds for the establishment of additional consulates in the Pacific.

It is probable that the War Department will purchase 25.000 carcases of frozen sheep from N'-w Zealand to bo delivered at Sonakim in lots as required fur the use of the troops.
The Irap-rinl Government is opposed to the agitation for severance of the North from the South of Queensland.

It is niraored that Mr Gladstone will retire from office when the present difficulty will) the Russian Government has been settled.
The Emp-ror of Germany has advised the Czirto come to a peaceful settlem-nt with England in the dispute between the two countries with reference to the Russian advance on the Afghanistan frontier. In the House of Commons last night Mr Gladstone stated that the Government intended to maintain the neutrality of the New Hebrides until the Australian Colonies consented to withdraw all claims to those islands. The Russian Government has given an order in America for building several war cruisers.
