London, Feb. 28,

The Australian mails, per Orient R.M.S, Austral, from Melbourne (dated Jan. 22nd), were delivered yesterday,

The steamship Braemer, outward bound, put into Stornoway* dismasted, having experienced a heavy gale.

The Bhaw-Savill and Albion Company’s steamship Coptic sailed from Plymouth yesterday afternoon for New Zealand, It is announced that Mr George Anderson, M.P, for Glasgow, has been appointed Deputy-Master of the Royal Mint vice Mr Delves Broughton, deceased. The result of the divisions on Sir Stafford Northcote’s motion of censure in the House of Commons, and on Lord Salisbury’s in the House of Lords, will not cause the Government to resign, but the Cabinet will continue in office. The Parnellites supported the motion of censure on the Government. March 2.

The steamship Braemer, which put into Stornoway dismasted, was bound from Glasgow to Port Chalmers. She is a new vessel, and owned by Henderson and Co. It is announced that Government will hasten the passage: of the Bill for a redistribution of seats, and as soon as the same becomes law Parliament will be dissolved.

All the Army establishments in the kingdom are being increased, in view of the Afghan and other contingencies. The cargo of frozen mutton, comprising 14,000 carcases, ex steamship Tongariro, from New Zealand, was placed on the market in good condition. Evidence which has been given at the hearing of the charges against Cunningham and Barton, suspected dynamiters, connects the prisoners with complicity in the attempted outrages on the London railway terminus last year. The case of Mr Danty, of Adelaide, against Coutts and Co., bankers, has been dismissed.

The following vessels will form the German squadron in the Pacific :—The Slosch. Marie, Albatross, and Hyane. They will be in command of Commodore Pischen.

Melbourne, March 3. Sir Wm. Jervois arrived here to-day from Sydney. Arrived, this morning—Parramatta, with the English mails. Sydney, March 2. Arrived, last evening—Tekapo, s.s. from Wellington. Adelaide, March 2. A man named Stair was found guilty of several acts of incendiarism in this city, and has been sentenced to fourteen years’ penal servitude.
