CRICKET.

The match Married v. Single of the Geraldine Cricket Club did not come off on Saturday through there not being enough married men on the ground to form a side. Sixteen players turned up, aud a scratch match took place between teams chosen by A. Erskine and Francis Fish, the laKer’s side winning by seven runs. Fish’s side went in first and scored 66, of which 31 were contributed by Fish, who carried his bat through the innings. The only other player to get into double figures was Millard, with 11. Erskine was most successful with the ball, bowling remarkably well. Erskine’s aide scored 59, 23 being made by G. Ward, who, as usual, hit hard. Moore also got into double figures, scoring 11, and Slierratt made 9. The following are the scores : Fish’s Side.

On Saturday morning a match was played on the Geraldine cricket ground between the boys of the upper and lower township. The latter side, riptained by J, Betbune, went in first and pul together 21 runs in their first innings, and 43 in the second. The upper township boys in their first innings scored 40 and 24 in the second, the match thus ending in a draw.

MARRIED V. SINGLE,

The match between the married and single members of the Temuka Cricket Club took place in the Temuka Park on Saturday last, and ended in favor of the bachelors by 69 runs on the first innings. Mr Bryars winning the toss for the single men put them to bat, and before the last wicket fell they succeeded in putting together a total of 103 inns. The married men, under Mr Hargreaves, then

went in to the bowling of Gurr and Brinkman, and this being very good, they could not make a stand, scoring only 34 runs. They followed on with their second innings, and when time was called had lost 5 wickets for 76 runs. The following are the scores : Single Men.
