LATE TELEGRAPHIC NEWS.
At the R.M. Court, Ohristchurch, yesterday morning, a boy named George Hawkins, ten years of age, was convicted of breaking ihto the house of a farmer at Prebbelton and stealing £7 14« and a quantity of articles therefrom. He was sent to Burnham School for five years. The body of Alick Murphy, the steer oar of the Wairoa whaleboat crew, Auckland, drowned on the 27th January, has been recovered^ Sir G, Grey has been invited to preside at Booth's farewell meeting at Auckland on Monday next. M. De Harven has gone to Waiwera to interview Sir J. Vogel. He brought with him from Belgium three silver-mounted fowling-pieces for presentation to Tawhiap, Te Tuhi, and Te Wheel q. Mr Moss, received a unanimous vote of confidence at Parnell last Thursday night. He sharply criticised Mr Ballance's speech to the Natives. Te Wheoro is urging the Kingites not to seek redress at the hands of the Colonial Government. The Home G°: vernment, he said, would dp this, and if, after six months grace, the Colonial Government refused to do its duty in the matter, Mr Gorst would be Bent out as a Koyal Commissioner, and the whole management of native affaire would b«j placed in his hands.
