AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT. TIMARU. Messrs Maclean and Stewart report for the past week ending Saturday as follows : Horses—About 50 draughts, harness horses and hacks were to-day entered for sale, the bulk being medium draughts. There was no great demand for any of the classes, and, in spite of the low paces asked for most of the lots, but little business was done. First-class draughts they quote at from £94 to £2B; medium sorts, £l4 to £lB ; light horses, £8 to £l2. Cattle—On Tuesday last, at the Washdyke, they placed a mixed mob of store cattle, consisting of 33 head, at for steers, from £2 10s to £5 7s 61 ; lu-ifers, at £3 ; calves at 225. Fat Cattle—Present values may be quoted at from 15s to 17s 6d per lOOlbs, They placed at last sale at Washdyke 12 heifers at above quotations. Sheep—They have enquiries for crossbred ewes, but other classes are difficult to place, except at a reduction on late rates, A medium entry was booked for sale at Washdyke on the 27th. Fat Sheep —They placed last Tuesday 120 crossbred 2-tooths at 12s ; 100 crossbred ewes from lls 3d to 13s fid; and quote mutton at 2d per lb. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Adelaide, Jan. 30. New Zealand wheat, per bushel, 2s 8d ; New Zealand oats, 3s ; maize, 4s Bd. Sydney, Jan. 30. Wheat is quoted at 3s fid to 3s 7d here, and 2s lid lo 3s atoutports. The market is depressed, in sympathy with Europe, Flour—Town brands, £8 to £8 ss; country ditto, £7 5s to £7 10s. ENGLISH MARKETS, London, Jan. 30. Wheat is unchanged. Adelaide wheat, ex store, is quoted at 375, and New Zealand do at 29a to 355. Adelaide flour, ex warehouse, is worth 25s fid. Tallow Australian average quality beef, 34s ; do mutton, 34s fid. Jan. 31. The wheat market has further declined one shilling. Cargoes to arrive in February and March are quoted at 365.
