CHRISTCHURCH CORN EXCHANGE. The Corn Exchange report for the week ending Friday evening, the SOth inst:— In grain and produce little has been done during the past week with the exception of some parcels of the new crop of oats passing at the nominal price of 2s to 2s Id for early delivery. Wheat and barley are quite inert, no business of any consequence having transpired. A few parcels of rye grass seed have been placed at prices that can scarcely be considered fixed. The prospects of the incoming crop of cereals nave been rather checked by the recent rains, although reports from the the agricultural districts are generally favourable, farmers feeling of fair returns, provided good harvesting weather prevails for the next six weeks or so. It would be premature to quote opening prices at present, as neither buyers nor growers are m accord in regard to values, Tho following are the current prices of the week ; Wheat.—Tuscan, nominal value, 3s; Hunter’s and Pearl, 3s 2d to 3s 3d f.0.b,; chick feed, Is 6d to 2s. Oats.—Bright short feed, 2a 3d f.o.b. ; new, undecided. Barley.—Malting none. Feed 3s 9d to 2s Id f.o.b. Batter and Cheese—-7d to 7£d for the former and 4d to 4£d for the latter. CHRISTCHURCH MARKETS. At tho Addington Live Stock Market on Wednesday moderate entriescame to hand, with the usual attendance of buyers. The fat sheep were principally of medium quality, and the presence of an outside buyer setved to effect a pretty fair clearance at however no advance in values. Crossbred wethers sold at from 12s to 14s 6d, ditto ewe? 10s to 12s 3d, merino wethers 8s to 10s 3d, being an average of 2d per lb. A moderate entry of store sheep, principally 2 and 4-tooths, met with but little inquiry, hardly a line being sold. A line of 2 and 4-tooth crossbred ewes at 11s 9d, and a line of longwool lambs at 7s 3d, being the only sales effected. Fat lambs were in large supply, demand dull,, at from 7b 6d to 10s per head. A good entry of Digs met with the usual brisk demand. The store cattle market was largely supplied, hut buyers were very backward, and but few sales were made.

Fat cattle market—Moderate entry, inquiry dull. Steers sold to £8 10s, heifers to £7 2a 6d, being from 18s to 20s per lOOlbs, as per quality.—Press DUNEDIN MARKETSAt the Burnside yards on Wednesday, 136 fat cattle were yarded, representing all qualities, the exceptions being some prime cattle from South Canterbury. Thera was ratherjimproved competition, and for prime best an advance on rates ruling during the last two weeks of fully 2s 6d per 1001 b. Best bullocks brought from £8 10s to £lO 17s 6d ; others, £6 to £7 16s; cows, £4 15s to £8 17s 6d. Beef, 20s to 22* 6d per lOOlbs. Mr L. Maclean sold for Mr M. Quinn, Temuka, 6 cows at from £6 5s to £8 17s 6d, and for Mr W. Grant, Timaru, 6 bullocks at from £9 5s to £lO ss. Fat Calves—Best, 18a to 21s ; others, 3a to 9s. Fat Sheep—Best crossbreds brought 14s 9d to to 16s; others, 12s to 14s; merinos, 7s 9d to lls. Mutton is quoted at 2jd to 2£d per lb. Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co. sold for Mr A, Grant, Temuka, 128 crossbred ewes at 13s 9d ; Mr L. Maclean sold for Mr M. Qninn 130 crossbred wethers at 14s 6d to 14s 9d. Fat lambs advanced in price fully Is per head, the quality being good. PigSr— Suckers sold at lls 9d to 19s 6d ; young stores, 20s to 28 6d ; porkers up to 40s, and bacon pigs to 60s. Sheepskins—Crossbreds, inferior to medium, brought Is 6d to 3s 7d ; fullwoolled do, 3s 9d to 5s 6d ; merino, inferior to medium, Is to 2s 6d ; medium, 2a 9d to 3s 6d ; good full-woolled, 3s 9d to 6s 4d ; pelts, 3d to Is 6d ; lambskins, 4d to Is 4d ; skins in bales, 4fd to 6Jd per lb. Hides—No alteration to report. All coming forward are easily quitted at late rates. Tallow—Market decidedly easier. Prime rendered is qqoted at £26 to £2B 10s, but it is not easy lo reach the figures j medium quality, £2l to £25 ; inferior, £lB to £2O; rough tat, £l4 to £lB per ton. Wheat—Prime samples in demand at last quotations, viz., 3s 5d to 3s 7d for superior white velvet and Tuscan. Medium and inferior qualities move slowly, as millers have slocks on hand, Medium quality is worth 3s Id to 3s 4d ; inferior, 2s 6d to 3s 9d ; fowl feed scarce, and worth 2s 4d. Oats—Owing to the almost complete cessation of shipping, the market during the week has been exceedingly quiet. Samples of bright milling and feed qnalities are, however, becoming scarce, and these woutd command—best milling, 2s 5d to 2s fid ; bright feed, 2s 3d to 2s 4d ; inferior and discolored, Is 9d to 2s Id. Potatoes —Messrs Donald "Reid and Co. report a better demand on the part of dealers, and have effected sales at £3 15s to £3 17s per ton. Hoesb Market, Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. quote first-class draughts at from £2B to £34; medium, £lB to £25 ; good hacks and lightharness horses, £l7 to £23; medium, £lO to £l4; light and inferior, £3 to £6.
