THE WESLEYAN CONFERENCE.

Dunedin, Jan. 22, The opening session of the Conference took place on Wednesday evening in Trinity Church, a large number of the public being in attendance. The retiring President, the Rev, Win. Morley, delivered an address, reviewing the events of the past year. By an almost unanimous vote the Rev. Joseph Berry, of Dunedin, was raised to the chair, and the Rev. H. Bull was re-elected Secretary of the Conference. A Presbyterian deputation was received from (he Synod, and a resolution of welcome was heartily adopted. To-day it was resolved that letters of affectionate esteem bo sent to the Roys. James Wallis, John Aldred, and George Stauoard, who on account of advancing years were unable to be present at the Conference. Toe results of the examination of tho probationers were read. The highest number of marks has been secured by tho Rev. J. T. Pinfold, and the largest average by the Rev. G. S. Garlick, and the third highest number of marks falls to (he Rev. G. Marshall. The Revs. Garlick, Parsonson, Pinfold, and Slade were recommended for ordination, subject to the result of the oral examination. The following probationers for the Ministry passed in their respective years : Rev. Jones, Wills, Marshall and Mather, and the Revs, Griffith and Deans conditionally. The station sheet, which is, however, subject to amendment in second and third readings, station the Rev. D. Murray at Temuka, the Rev. P. Fairdough at Timaru, and the Rev. J. H. Gray at Waimate.
