MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Board was held in the Road Board Office, Peel Forest, on Friday the 16th inst. Present — The Hod. J. B. Aclaod (Chairman), Messrs R. Mackay, G. J. From the Union Bank of Australia, Timaru, in reference to the renewal of the Board’s fixed deposits. -Resolved—- “ That the sum of £IOOO at present at current account be placed at fixed deposit for tinee months.” From Messrs Taylor and Flatman, in reference to closing the road between sections 1372 and 3309, staling that they would be prepared to pay the cost of survey and plan, provided they be allowed to make their own arrangements.—Rsesolved pared to take the necessary steps for ( closing the road upon condition that Messrs Taylor and Fiatrnan pay all cost,” INTERVIEW. Mr T, Blair had an interview with the Board in reference to repairs required to the stone-crusher. After some discussion, it was decided that the Board would pay for a set of new oil cups for the main shaft of the machine but declined to pay the cost of repairs for ordinary wear, as the machine was used by the contractor at his own risk. CONTRACTS. Proposed bv Mr Tripp, seconded by Mr Mackay, and carried—“ That all contract works under the Board be suspended for two months during harvest.” ACCOUNTS. After passing accounts to the amount of £134 8s Bd, the Board adjourned till the third Friday in February.
