Friday evening, the 2nd inst ; The tone of the Grain and Produce Market has in no way improved during tlie past fortnight. Few transactions have taken place, and to some extent this may bo owing to the holidays, although l it is scarcely to be expected that mattery will improve much before the harvest comes forward. Hard wheats are still in demand, but few suitable samples are to be obtained. .Oats have again dropped; and are not likely to recover in the face of the new crop which ’ will soon be put on the market. Barley, although quoted nominally, is practically : bUt of stbbk except for feed purposes,' Baity produce remains Quotations are as follow 1 1 Wheat—3s to 3s 3d, f.o.b. ; chick feed, Is 6d to 2s. Oats— D rime milling, 2s 7d to 2s 9d ; short feed, 2s 4d to 2s 6d ; long, 2» to 2« 3d. f.o.b. Barley—Malting, nominally 3s 6d to 4s ; feed, 2s to 2s 3d, Christchtircli. ’ Beans—3s 3d ; peas, 3s 3d to 3fl 6d, f.o.b. Butter and Cheese—6d to 6|d for the former, the latter 4d to 4|d, f.o.b. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Sydney, Jan. 2. New Zealand, wheat per bushel is,at3s; New Zealand' oats, 2s lld ! ; maizb,' 4s lOd j Sugar Company’s No. I pieces, per ton, £3l. Adelaide, Jan. 2. Jap. f, , The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company held their;j first, wool sales since the holiday to-day. The catalogue comprised 3000 bales. L ENGLISH'MARKETS. ’ London, J«n, 2, Prime New Zealand frozen mutton is selling at s£d per lb. Australian tallow, of average quality— Beef, 345; mutton, 34s 6J. Jan. 3. Off-coaat cargoes of New Zealand wheat are 31s 6d. Wheat is one shilling lower all round.
