WOOL SALE.

Mr K. f. Gray reports having held his first wool side of the season at his Wool and Grain Stores, Temuka, on Wednesday last, offering a catalogue of 156 bales greasy wool, of which 60 bales were sold, and 1000 skins. He would draw the attention of farmers to the necessity of well skirting their wool. Had this been done there is no doubt that a considerable number of lots which fell to their owners 1 bids would have been sold. There was a fair attendance of buyers, representing Christchurch, Dunedin, Kaiapoi, Ashbut* ton, and local firm, the wool best competed for being mostly first cross, from 7|d to B§d being obtained, merino 7|d to BJd. The following are the lots as disposed of: AG., 10 bales halfbred at B|-d, 17 bales first cross at B|d, and 4 bales merino at B|d ; AP., 4 bales halfbred at 7id, 5 bales crossbred at 64d, 5 bales merino passed in at 7yd ; AA., 6, bales haff-bred at 5 bales crossbred at 7|d ; ZO., 4 bales Lincoln at 6£d ; H., 2 bales Lincoln at 6id. The following lots were passed in| not reaching the owners’ reserves : —H., 16 bales half-bred hoggets, 10 bales halfbred ewes at7fd; AG., 33 bales halfbred at 7-kl to bales merino at 7£d to Pieces sold at from 2gd to 4|d ; sack wool from 2d to 7-J-d per lb ; locks and pieces from Id to 3d. Skins—Bo at 3s 3d, 120 at 2s, and 101 at Is ; 400 merino at from 3|-d to 5d per lb; 100 halfbred hogget skins at 3|d per lb; 83 merino at 2s 3d ; pelts from 3d to 6d.
