DUNEDIN MARKETS
At the Burnside Yards on Wednesday, 299 fat cattle were yarded, of which rather more than half were prime, the remainder scarcely better than stores. Best bullocks brought £lO to £ll 15s ; others, £8 10s to £9 15s.—Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., sold on account of Mr W. Grant (Timaru), 12 bullocks at £6 17s 6d to £8 12s 6d ; on account of Mr Jas. Guild (Trevenna Farm), 12 bullocks from £8 :>s 6d to £8 l'/s 6d. Mr L. Maclean sold on behalf of Mr Qumn (Temuka), 6 bullocks at from £7 17s Gd to £9 2s 6d. Fat Calves—Ten yarded, which sold at from 10s to 46s each. Fat sheep— yarded. Of these only 225 were merinos, and the balance crossbreds, representing all qualities. The number was not excessive, but as butchers were well supplied from last week, prices must be quoted a shade lower. Best oros*bredrt brought 16a 6d to 18s 6d ; others, 10s 3d to 16s ; merinos (shorn), lis to 12s 6d ; one prime lot in wool up to 19s 2d. —Mr L. Maclean, on behalf of Mr M. Q.iinn (Temuka), 132 crossbreds at from 158 6d to 16s. Fat liimb? realised from 5s 9d to 13s ; a lot from Mr W. Grant (Timaru) topping the market at from 12s 3 I to 13?. Fat Pigs—Bacon pgs brought from 46s to 70s ; porkers. 33s to 35s ; stores and suckers, 12s to 235. Store Cattle—No transactions to report, but well-grown, warm-conditioned bullocks could be placed at satisfactory prices. Sheepskins.—Butchers' green crossbreds brought from 4s lOd to 5s lid ; do merino, Is 4d to 5s 9d ; pelts, 7d to Is 3d ; lambskins, 8d to Is 3d j skins in bales 4£d to sfd per lb. Hides in moderate request at last week's values. Tallow in fair demand at, for very prime rendered, 27s to 28s 6d ; medium, 25s to 26s ; inferior, 18s to 29s ; rough fdt, 14s to 19s per cwt. Wheat—The trade exceedingly quiet, millers buying only choice kinds, such a? white velvet, in prime condition, at 3s 61 to 3s 6H ; red straw, 2s lOd to 3s 3d ; fowls' wheat, Is 6d to 2s 6d. Oats—Stocks are accumulating, and as the Australian markets are weakening, there is no encouragement to stick. Quotations ;ire : Prime millling, 23 6d to 2s 7d ; good bright feed, 2s 5d to 2s 6d ; discoloured, 2s 3d to 2s 6d ; inferior and medium, 2s to 2s 3d. Barley—No transactions to report. Bright malting is scarce, and inquired for. Ryegrass Seed—Very little demand ; a few small lots machine dressed have been sold at 4s 3d per bushel. Potatoes —Market bare of old Derwents; new kidneys are worth £]2 to £l4 per tOD. Horse Market—Wright, Stevenson, and Co. report first-class draughts at from £3O, to £34, medium £2O to £25, good hacks and light-harness horses £l7 to £25, medium £lO to £ls, light and inferior £2 to £7.
CHEISTCHURCH MARKETS. At the Addington yards on Wednesday the 10th large eutries of all descriptions of stock yarded for (he day's supply. Fat sheep—Principally medium quality ; only local,requirements, which were not heavy,to b* supplied, and sale wa? dull and slow throughout, sales being made ata reduction on late values. Shorn crossbred wethers at from 13s 6d to 153 3d ; mixed sorls, 12s to 14s ; shorn merino wethers, from 7s 3d to lis 6d, and in their wool at Us 9d, being a decline of nearly Is per head, and a shade loss than per lb. on an average. A fairly large entry of store sheep en offer, a good proportion of which changed hand-', and, compared with the prices ruling for fat sheep, high values were given, but signs were not wanting to show that this state of things is finding its remedy, and prices do not compare with those lately ruling.. A line of crossbred ewes in their wool, with a large percentage of lambs, fetched 21s 6d ; ditto shorn, 15s and 17s 2d ; lines of two and four-tooth crossbreds, at Bs, Us, 1 Is 3d, Us 6rl, 12s 3d, 12s 8d and 13s Id ; lines of unshorn merino wethers at 6s 6ci, 6s 7d and 13*. Fat lambs were in good supply, selling at from 9s to Us 3d. Fat cattle—A large entry of principally excellent quality ; demand very middling, and a dull sale throughout. Bullocks sold at from £6 5s to £8 15s ; heif»rs from £sl7s 6d to £B. being from 18s to 20s 6d per 1001 b. The store cattle market fairly well supplied, and better business doing.—Press

The Corn Exchange report for the week ending Friday evening, the 12 th inst:—
. The week ended has been utterly void of interest, no sales or en quiriea of any note having taken place. Quotations as follows: —
Wheat—Tuscan, 33 2d ; Pearl and Hunter's, 3s 31 to 3s 4<i, f.o.b. Oats—Milling, 2s lOd ; bright short feed, 2s 9d ; others, 2s 6d to 3s 8d f.o.b. Barley—Prime Malting 3.* 6d to 4b ; feed, 2s to 2s 3d, f o b Beans and Peas— 3s to 3-? 31 for the former, and 3s 3d to 3s Gd, f.0.b., for the latter.
Butter and Cheese—The former, 6d to 7d; the latter 4£d to sd, f.o.b.
AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Melbourne, Dec. 10. The Melbourne Manager of the National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand, Limited, reports on the local markets as follows : Shipping wheat is worth 3- 8d to 3> 9d : market dull &nd drooping. Mailing barley is qniec at 3-* 101 to 4s 41. The demand for mnlting barley in bond is steady, but not active. New Zealand oats, feeding sorts, are quoted at 3s 6d to 3s Bd, market a shade firmer ; milling do 3s 8d to 3s 9J, with rather more enquiry at reduced prices. New Zealand oatH, under bond, are worth 2s 8d to 2* lid. Dec. 11. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, held their usual weekly word sale to-day, whei? a fairly representative catalogue of some 5300 bales was submitted. Buyers attended in large numbers, and
the competition for all lots was keen except for washed fleeces. 'Finn grpnsy crnsshreds and scoured merinos are in active demand. Washed wools are dull, and other sorts unchanged at last week's prices. Greasy merinos? sold up to 14d f r Tftißttinian, and 12(1 for Riverina chns. Scoured merinos brought 23-J-tl, and ffashed fleece 16-^d. ENGLISH MARKETS. London, Dec. 9. Off coast cargoes of Adelaide wheat are quoted at 34s 6d, an adv-iiue of )a per quarter. Adelaide' wheat, ex store, remains at 35s 6d, and New Zealand do 30s 6d to 335. Adelaide flour, ex store, is worth 23s 6d.
