Thomson and Smith v. Solomon (a Maori) —Claim £2 8s Id. Judgment summons. —In this case it was stated that £1 10s had been paid on account. An adjournment for a week was applied for and granted to allow defendant to pay the balance. Mrs Bourke v. C. Diggin—Claim £1 10s.—The defendant did not appear.— The plaintiff stated that the amount sued for was due to her and that she had made repeated applications to defendant for payment. Judgment was given for the plaintiff with costs. This was the whole of the business, and the Court then rose. GERALDINE, Wednesday, December 10,1884. [Before H. C. Baddeley, Esq., R.M.] CIVIL CASES. The following civil cases were disposed of :—Tarbottom v. A. Jackson—Claim L 4 3s 9d. Dr Foster for plaintiff. Defendant did not appear, but paid the amount of the claim into Court, without costs.—o. E. Sherratt, Clerk to the Court, sworn, said he told the defendaat the amount of the costs but he refused to pay him. Judgment was given for amount claimed, with costs LI 14s and solicitors’ fee, Ll Is,

,J. W. Lechner v. A. Evans—Claim L 3 15s for 10 weeks’ board. Dr Foster for plaintiff. The defendant did not appear.—J. W. Lechner, sworn, said the defendant boarded at his house tor ten weeks, the terms being 7s 6d per week. While there she used to do dressmaking, and charged LI 5s 3d for work done for his wife. None of the amount owing by defendant had been paid.— Judgment was given for L2 9s 9d, with costs 15s, and one witness ss. JK. Glass v. A. Spence—Claim L 3 14s 7d. The case was adjourned from Nov. 26th, and was further adjourned for a month, the defendant having put in an application under the Evidence Act to have his evidence taken at Gisborne. BREACHES OF THE TOWN BOARD BYLAWS. The following persons were charged under Section 14 of By-law No. 2 of the Geraldine Town Board, with allowing cattle to wander on the streets. Each person pleaded guilty : —Messrs R. H, Pearpoint, N. Dunlop, W. Law. son, W. Corbett, J. S. Waite and Thos. Addis, for allowing one horse to wander, were each fined 5s and costs, 7s ;J, Dean, for 5 horses and 1 cow, was fined 5s and costs 7s ; J. P. Kallaugher and B. Morrison, for each allowing 3 cows to wander, were fined 5s and costs 7s.—Dr Foster appeared for the Town Board.

This being al Ithe business, the Court adjourned till December 23rd.
