Q<IR, —Will you kindly insert in your K 3 valuable paper, the following : Having been told by Mr Boyd Thomson that Mr Alexander Clyne had spread a report to the effect tlia* I had been seen lining a net for the purpose of taking trout from the river, of course I at once proceeded to Mr Clyne to learn if he 11ad spread such a report. He strictly denied having done such a thing-, and at once threw the falsohood direct back to Mr Thomson. As Mr T. is not in tho neighborhood and the report is calculated, I wont say to do me harm, but make people look upon my legitimate fishing as anything it should be, I beg most emphatically to deny ever using or being with anyone that has used a net tor the purpose of taking trout from any river in I his district or any other part of Canterbury.—l am, Sir, your's, most respectfully, W.
