CRICKET.

TIMARU CO. V. TEMUKA C.C. A match between the Timaru and Temuka Cricket Clubs came off in Tirnani last Saturday, the day being beautifully fine. Mr M. J. Godby captained the Timaru term, and Mr W. H. Hargreaves the Temuka. The Litter won the toss and sent his opponents to the wickets, from whence (hey wore not removed until about five o'clock, scoring during that time 257 runs. Of this number 103 were made by Mr 0. T. H. Perry, and 66 by Mr W. Hughes, both displaying very fine cricket. The Temuka team then went in, but were soon disposed of, not one of them getting into double figures, eight made by Mr George Smith being the highest scoro. 3 J *•* the total made. The team was decidedly o.er-matched, ana ihu should urge them to practice more frequently, without which they will never excel. The following are the scores ;

ENGLISH ELEVEN V. VICTORIAN ELEVEN. A mutch between the English Eleven and Eh ven of Victoria is now being played in Victoria. The Englishmen went in first and scored 202, 80 by Shrewsbury being the highest score. The Victorians then went in and secured 118 for the loss of six wicksts, of which Horan made 37.
