AN EXPLANATION.

TO THE EDITOR, Sib, —The members of the Relief of Peel Forest Good Templars’ Lodge and Band of Hope wish to state that they were in no way responsible for the drinking that was carried on outside the Scotsburn schoolroom on the occasion of the entertainment held there on the 30th of October, The Band of Hope Committee also wish to state that under the circumstances they feel they cannot accept the money (the proceeds of the meeting) kindly offered to them hy the conveners of the meeting, as although got up with the very best of intentions by the promoters there were those present whom they feel assured were actuated by the very worst.

Thk Secretary, Relief of Peel Forest Lodge, Nov. 12, 1884.
