COMMERCIAL.
SYDNEi MARKETS.
The Town and Country Journal under date Oct. 4th, 1884, reports on the local produce market as follows :
Wheat.—This market is without alteration in values, as, for month past, owing to the continued low rates ruling in the European markets, holders are without a chance of making advances in values, and even at present low rates in Australian markets it will not pay to ship to Europe. Quotations are as follows :—New South Wales wheat, 4s to 4s 3d ; Adelaide, 4s Id to 4s Sd ; Adelaide, 4s Id to 4s 3*l ; Victorian, 4a to 4s 2d ; Tasmanian, 3s 6d to 8s 9d ; New Zealand. 3s to 3s 6d per bushel.
Flour.—With a great accession to our low grades of flour this market continues dull, and the hot weather now approaching makes the bakers careful in purchasing only the best grades of flour, consequently inferior country brands of flour are neglected, although offering at low rates. Prices are as follow : New South Wales, L 9 to LlO 10s ; Adelaide, L 8 10s to LlO 10s ; Victorian, T.S to LlO ; Tasmanian, L 7 to L 9 ; New Zealand, L 6 to L 8 ; bran and pollard, Is Id to Is 2d per bushel.
