CHRISTCHURCH CORN EXCHANGE. The Corn Exchange report for the week ending Friday evening, the 10th inst : The grain market for the past week has been but a repetition of the former. There has been no particular stir, excepting in oa(s, and potatoes, both of which continue to absorb the attention of the trade, to the exclusion ot all other kinds of produce. Oats have made yet another advance, and are held firmly for higher rates, while potatoes have just barely held to former quotations. The contradictory rumours from the Sydney side tended to make holders feel rather uneasy, and more inclined to part with stock, at the price quoted below, Values for the week as under ; Wheat—Sound dry samples, 3s 2d to 3s 4d ; seconds, 2s 6d to 2s 9d ; chick wheat, Is 9d to 2s f.o.b. Oals—Prime milling, 2s lOd ; short feed, 2s 8d ; long oats, 2s 6d f.o.b. Barley—Malting, 3s 6d to 4s ; feed, 26 2d to 2s 4d, Christchurch. Beans—3s to 3s 3d f.o.b. Peas—3s 3d to 3s 6d f.o.b. Ryegrass seed—Clean farmers' parcels, 3s 6d to 8s 9d ; town machine dressed, 4s 3d to 4s 6d f.o.b. Cocksfoot— to 4|d per lb f.o.b._ Potatoes—£s per ton f.0.b., sacks included. Butter and cheese—The former 7d to Bd, and the latter 4d per lb f.o.b. CHRISTCHURCH MARKETS. At the Addington yards on Wednesday there were large entries of all kinds of stock except fat sheep. Attendance of habitues large, but business dull. In the fat sheep market the supply was extremely limited, the absence of crossbred sheep being both marked and unusual. Merino wethers were in large supply. Sales were as follows, being, on account of the small entry, an advance on late rates : —Crossbreds, from 16s to 23s ; shorn do, 14s 9d : merino wethers, 12s 3d to 15s, being from 2£d to 3d per lb according to quality. Store sheep. —A fairly numerous entry, demand only middling. Lines of hoggets sold at 12s 3d and 14s Id ; crossbred ewes with lambs, 16s 3d to 21s 3d ; aged merino ewes with lambs, Gs 5d ; fat lambs were in moderate supply, selling at from 10s 6d to 14s 9d. The supply of pigs was small, demand sufficient to effect a clearance at late rates. Porkers, 22s 6d to 40s ; stores, 14s to 20s (id. The store cattle market was heavily supplied, demand proving very dull and lifeless. A line of 3-year-old bullocks sold at £5 5s per head ; lines of young cattle at from 18s to 425. A larare supply of fat cattle was penned, sales being made at from 18s to 21s 6d per lOOlbs. Bullocks sold at from £5 17s 6d to £9 ; heifers, £5 5s to £8 5s ; fat cows, £4 5s to £6 17s 6d.—Press. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Melbourne, Oct. S, Messrs Goldsboro and Co. held their first wool auction for the season to-day. There was a crowded attendance of Home, foreign, American and local buyers, and a brisk competition experienced, especially for scoured wools. Ordinary greasy realised 9|d, and good scoured Is 9d. No superior lots were offered to-day. The catalogue included 1400 bales, of which 1235 were Bold.
