GEKALDIHS. Messrs J. Mundell and Co. report sales j for the week ending Sept. 13th : We held a clearing sale at Woodbury on Tuesday (on account of Mr George Wood), of freehold land, blacksmith's shop, implements, etc. There was a large attendance of buyers, and the following prices were realised, viz. : 100 acres, situate on the Rangitata Flat, £5 per acre ; half-an-acre, situated in Woodbury township, £2O; blacksmith shop passed in at £l5O : live stock, implements, etc., sold at satisfactory rates. TIMARU Messrs"Maclean and Stewart report for the past week ending Saturday as follows : Horses Their entries to-day were ■mall in number, but ot very good quality, some really good farm horses being submitted for sale. They sold a few of these at from £27 10s to £3O 10s. For light or inferior kinds there was no demand. . . Tbe.Clydesdale and thoroughbred entires were both offered for sale, but the bidding in either case did not reach the owner's ideas ; consequently they were both passed in, and are for private sole. During the week they have sold privately a few good mares for the Sydney market at about quotations. Sheep—Good stores are in brisk demand, and any lots offering meet with a rsady sale. A fair entrj' was received at the Washdyke last Tuesday. They sold 160 cros»bred hoggets at 12s 3d, 200 half bred hoggets at Us Id, and 300 merino ewes at 9s 6d. Privately during the week they sold a line of 1000 good crossbred hoggets at a satisfactory price, and another Bmall lot of 110 hoggele also at a good value. Fat sheep are keeping in brisk demand at high prices, from 16s to 18s for good crossbreds being obtainable, or 3d per lb. They have placed privately several lines at these quotations. Cattle—Two or threa-yeav-old steers and heifers meet with a ready sale. A good number changed hands at Washdyke last Tuesday. They sold steers at £2 12s 6d up to £5 10s, according to age ; cows, £2 "to £4. Tat cattle—They quote present values at fully 17s per 1001 b. Skins, Tallow, and Hides—On Wednesday last they held their usual fortnightly sale, when they catalogued 550 Bkins, a few sacks tallow and 26 hides, the whole of which found buyers at the following prices, viz. :—Butchers' halfbred skins, 3s 7d to 4s lid ; crossbred s, 3a 4d to 4s 6d ; merinos, 3s 6d to 4s 2d ; farmers' lots—crossbreds and halfbreds, 2s 8d to 3s 6d ; merinos, 2s to 3s ; tallow, from 2jd to 2|d per lb ; hides, 3d to 3£d per lb. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Stdxky, Sept. 12. New Zealand wheat, per bushel, 3s 3d ; New Zealand oats, 2s 6d ; maize, 5s Id. ENGLISH MARKETS. London, Sept. 12. Colonial breadstuffs—Cargoes of Adelaide wheat off coast are realising 33s 6d. Quotations ex granary are unchanged, viz. : Adelaide, 36s ; New Zealand, 32s to 368. Adelaide flour, 265. The total amount of wheat afloat for the United Kiogdom is 1,620,000 quarters, a decrease of 240,000 quarters during the week. The wool market continues firm. The catalogue comprised 8500 bales. New Zealand mntton of prime quality » realising 4|d to 5d per lb. Sept. 13. At to-day's wool sale 8300 bales were offered. The market continues firm. The Australian, wheat cargoes and latest New Zealand arrivals are in bad condition.
